Man ends life due to 'Govt apathy'

Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, June 9 (UNI) Aggrieved by the ''apathy'' of the administration, a 31-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison immediately after handing over a memorandum at the district collectorate.

Police said K Subramanian of Porpadakurichi village in the district had come to the collectorate to petition the Collector regarding a property dispute. He claimed that one Pandian had usurped his land by threatening him.

As the Collector was not in the office, he submitted his memorandum to the Divisional Revenue Officer. Soon after, he swooned and was rushed to a hospital.

Subramanian said he took the extreme step as the authorities had not taken any action on his repeated pleas. He breathed his last at the hospital.
