Macca's guitar amp up for grabs

London, June 9 : A guitar amplifier signed by Sir Paul McCartney has been put up for sale at an eBay auction aimed at supporting a charity that combats the threat of landmines.

The auction started on Monday, and will be on for 10 days.

Fans of the former 'Beatle' may bid for the new hand-wired Vox AC15H1TV during this period.

Musicians, including 'The Beatles', have used Vox amps for over five decades.

McCartney is among celebrities who have been demanding a ban on cluster munitions.

"Cluster bomblets and anti-personnel mines, are unacceptable when they kill and injure innocent civilians including children. I call upon individuals, organisations and politicians to do all they can to remove and reduce the impact of these weapons for future generations," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

"When a war is over I think it's a cowardly thing to leave the war behind you in minefields that hit women and children and the most vulnerable," he added.

An eBay spokesman said: "The sale of a signed Paul McCartney amp on eBay UK is a unique opportunity for a true fan to own this one-off item.

He added: "With the proceeds going to a charity close to his heart, we hope it raises a large amount of money for the No More Landmines campaign."
