Kerala to constitute commission for sports development
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 9 (UNI) The Kerala Government has decided to constitute a Sports Commission for comprehensive study and development of sports in the state, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said today.
The Cabinet had given its approval for constituting a six-member commission with former Central Sports and Youth Welfare Board secretary A K Pandya as its chairman, the chief minister said while briefing the weekly Cabinet decisions to reporters here.
The commission would prepare a report and submit it to the government with necessary recommendations for comprehensive development and study of sports.
Olympians Suresh Babu and Shiny Wilson, Mr V T Govindan Nair, Dr T I Manoj and Kerala Sports Council President T P Dasan (ex-offico member) would be the other members of the commission, he added.
