Himachal CM for strengthening regional co-operations

Shimla, Jun 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said Himachal the state would play an active role in strengthening regional co-operation among all the hill states for resolving mutual concerns and grievances.

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day seminar on ''Future Strategies and the Development of Horticulture'', organised by Horticulture Department here, he said the state would hold Hill States Horticulture conference in the state soon towards this end.

Mr Dhumal said time has now come for all the hill states to come together on a single platform for all their developmental and other problems, which could be resolved by taking benefit form each others experience.

Himachal's developmental requirements match with Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir along with other hill states of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya and as such they could be associated for various similar problems, he said.

He said by assembling at a common platform all the hill states would be in a position to take benefit of one another's experience and give renewed momentum to the development in their states.

Agriculture and horticulture were the two major sectors where regional cooperation was most necessary, he added.

He said Himachal had emerged as the leader in fruit production and quality fruit produce was in great demand within and outside the country.
