Former Assam Minister's bail plea rejected
New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) A city court today rejected the bail plea of former Assam Minister Ripun Bora in a case in which he was arrested while trying to offer a bribe to a CBI sleuth investigating the murder of a student leader Daniel Topno.
Additional Sessions Judge S P Garg rejected the bail pleas of Mr Bora and co-accused R K Maheshwari and said the case was in the initial stage of investigation. Seeing the gravity of offence of the accused, they cannot be released on bail.
Mr Bora was arrested in New Delhi on June 3 while trying to offer a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to a CBI sleuth investigating the murder of a student leader Daniel Topno in 2000, in which Mr Bora is a suspect.
He was immediately sacked from the state Cabinet the same evening.
