Doctor-compounder shot dead

Varanasi, Jun 9 (UNI) A doctor and his compounder were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mirza Murad area of the city today.

Four motorcycle-borne killers barged into Awadesh Patel's chamber in Kachawa market and opened fire on him, police said.

When the medico's compounder Vijay Kumar resisted, they shot at him also.

The wounded were rushed to hospital, where they breathed their last.

Later, an enraged mob of locals blocked a road.

Police reached the spot and used mild force to quell the mob.

Investigations were on.
