AP Govt to supply LPG at pre-hiked prices
Hyderabad, Jun 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said LPG gas would be supplied in the state at the pre-hiked prices from today.
Holding a review meeting on the issue with the officials here, Dr Reddy said the enhanced Rs 50 per cylinder collected from the consumers on June seven and eight, after the GO was issued, would be reimbursed/adjusted, an official release said here.
The Chief Minister told the officials that Andhra Pradesh was the only state in the country which had absorbed the entire hike on LPG.
The state Government had decided to bear the additional burden of Rs 50 per LPG cylinder in the form of subsidy and reduce the burden on the 1.04 crore families in the state.
It may be recalled that as per the Chief Minister's request to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora, the Centre had instructed the oil companies to implement the order of the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoMs No 20, CAF&CS (CSIII) Dept dated June six 2008) to provide LPG cooking gas cylinders, reducing the Rs 50 hike implemented by the Centre three days ago.
The oil companies in turn informed the state coordinator to take necessary action, who informed all the distributors of LPG to allow the consumers to book and receive the LPG gas cylinders as per the GO issued.
Dr Reddy asked the Civil Supplies Department officials to strictly implement the state Government order and see that the additional cost paid after the GO was issued was immediately reimbursed.
