55.62% candidates secure pass marks in HSSLC exams
Shillong, June 9 (UNI) The Meghalaya Board of School Education today declared the results that witnessed girls outshining the boys in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Arts Stream while the trend was reversed in case of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations.
In the Arts stream, while the overall pass percentage of female candidates was 67.72, about 61.51 per cent of the male candidates cleared the examinations.
In the SSLC examinations, the pass percentage of boys and girls stood at 80.10 and 78.47 per cent respectively.
Out of 16,661 students, who appeared in the HSSLC examination, 9,267 emerged successful with the overall pass percentage at 55.62 per cent.
While 666 students notched up first division marks, the figures for second and third divisions were 3,162 and 5,230 respectively.
On the other hand, in SSLC examinations, out of 38,056 students appearing, 21,825 were successful.
Altogether 2,662 students got the first division, 6,865 bagged second division and 12,298 secured third division respectively.
Subhajit Bhowmick of Tura Town Higher Secondary School, Tura, topped the HSSLC (Arts Stream), flaunting a total of 412 marks, while K Eshan Singh of St Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong, secured first position in the SSLC examination with a net aggregate of 557.
