Punjab Science Academy for partnership with industry
Patiala, Jun 8 (UNI) The Punjab Science Academy today undertook to promote scientific temper and enhance scientist-industrialist partnership for promoting welfare of the society.
This decision was taken at the annual meeting of the Academy at the Punjabi University Campus here today.
Presiding over the meeting, Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University urged the Academy to hold motivational programmes to spread awareness about health and hygiene among ruralites.
Scientists, he said, could play a stellar role in developing sense of inquisitiveness and precision among the children, besides facilitating them to understand "nuances of life" in a better way.
He also released the latest journal of the Punjab Academy on the occasion.
Talking about the activities of the Academy, its former President, Dr I J S Bansal said that the holding of children science congress, debate, declamation and quiz contests for the school-going children and collegiates were its regular features.
The Academy President, Dr A J S Bhanwer, said that eminent Punjabi scientists are honoured by giving fellowships and cash prizes to young scientists to encourage them.
Dr Tarlok Singh, Secretary of the Academy also spoke on the occasion. Dr M S Saini and Dr Manjit Singh, Dean, Research and Dean, Colleges of Punjabi University, respectively and Dr S S Khehra, Registrar, were also present on the occasion.
