One killed, nine injured as bridge slab collapses

Surat, Jun 8 (UNI) At least one person was killed and nine others were injured when a slab of Amaroli bridge in the city collapsed and fell on workers, engaged in broadening the structure.

According to police, Amaroli bridge on Tapi river, which connects Surat city with the Katargam area, is being broadened to make it a two-way bridge by authorities.

This afternoon as the work was in progress, suddenly a concrete slab on the bridge collapsed and fell on some workers, who were standing below, killing one person on the spot and injuring nine others.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital here.
