Milkha happy with Jeev's triumph in Vienna

Chandigarh, Jun 8 (UNI) Legendary runner 'Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh was thrilled as soon as he got the news that his son Jeev Milkha Singh had won the European Tour's Bank Austria GolfOpen (Euro 1.3 million) presented by Telekom Austria in Vienna on Sunday.

He describd the win as 'wonderful" Talking to UNI from his house in Sector 7, Chandigarh, Milkha Singh said that he had been continuously receiving congratulatory messages from his friends, relatives and others in Europe, USA, Canada and other other countries.

"I spoke to Kaka on phone after he won the title on the European Tour. Jeev was happy with his peformance in Vienna. Jeev has now become the second Indian to have claimed three titles on the European Tour. The victory after two years is very sweet and well earned." A delighted Milkha Singh also immediately phoned his wife Nirmal Milkha Singh about Jeev's achievement. "Nirmal Milkha was informed about Jeev's victory at New York airport as she is returning from USA after spending one month with her daughters. She will be back here tomorrow. I am planning to go to Europe to be with my son." Cricket Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad, who is a former president of Chandigarh Golf Association, contratulated Jeev Milkha Singh on his wonderful achievement by winning the the European Tour's Bank Austria GolfOpen. Coach of Kapil Dev described Jeev's triumph as "big honour to the country, besides winning prize money." "Every Indian should be proud of Jeev's outstanding performance. By winning title, Jeev has brought laurels to the country," said Azad.
