Mild Tremors felt in TN

Vellore, Jun 8 (UNI) Vellore and its adjacent area in Tamil Nadu experiened mild tremors last night with an intensity of 3.8 on the Richter scale.

According to sources, the tremor which lasted for about a minute at 2340 hrs, was felt in Sathuvacheri, Otteri, Shenbakkam, Kinamattom,, Bagayam, Saidapet, Infantry Road, Officers Line in the Fort City, Vaniyambadi and Arni.

Police said all units in the district and adjacent areas were alerted for any eventuality.

Though no casualities or injuries was reported, people were found running out of their houses as soon as they felt the impact of the tremor. Many spent sleepless nights on the streets.

It may be recalled that a similar tremor occurred in the district about four years ago, though no major damage to life and property was reported.
