Major fire in Safdarjang area
New Delhi, Jun 8 (UNI) A major fire today broke out in a government-owned godown in the Safdarjang area, according to fire department officials.
Speaking to UNI, the officials said the blaze was first reported around 0950 hrs. It took around two hours and eight fire engines to contain the flames, they added.
Although the worth of property damaged had not yet been ascertained, they said hardware, wooden articles and combustible chemicals were engulfed by the inferno.
The godown was spread around 1000 sq meter, but the fire was limited to only 100 sq m, the officials claimed.
Plumes of smoke reportedly brought traffic to snarl down the INA flyover. The cause of the blaze was not yet known, police and the fire department added.
