CPM activist block rail traffic in Punjab against fuel hike

Phagwara, Jun 8 (UNI) Traffic on the Jalandhar-Ludhiana section was today effected after CPM activists blocked rail traffic for two hours to protest against the hike of prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.

The protestors in batches sat on the railway tracks between Phagwara and Phillaur stations and between Phillaur and Ludhiana station. The traffic on the Phillaur-Nakodar section was also effected due to the blockade which last for two hours.

The protestors led by CPM leaders, Dayal Singh and Paramjit Kaur Taggarr demanded immediate roll back of the prices.

As a result on the blockade, the 2497 UP Delhi-Amritsar Shane-Punjab Express, the ,2926 DN Deluxe Express and a Nakodar bound goods train remained strandard near Phillaur railway station.

The 2920 DN Malwa Express was stopped at Goraya railway station.
