CBI nets NHAI official
Thrissur, Jun 8 (UNI) National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director B Venugopal was arrested today by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on graft charges.
Official sources said the official was arrested when he accepted Rs 90,000 as bribe from one Jose, a businessman hailing from Pala in Kottayam district, for granting permission to construct a building near to Thrissur-Palakkad national highway.
As directed by the CBI sleuths, Jose approached the official with Rs 90,000, out of Rs 1,50,000 demanded, and the officials caught him red handed from his home at Chembukavu in this district.
