BJP elicits views of its Bihar legislators on Sushil Modi
New Delhi, Jun 8 (UNI) The BJP today obtained the views of its party Legislators from Bihar about the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi in view of the dissident camp openly airing complaints against his style of functioning.
Senior party leaders M Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj elicited the views of almost all the 69 MLAs and MLCs from the state at the BJP headquarters to enable the high command to take an appropriate decision, party sources said.
The party's Parliamentary Board had met twice on the issue without taking a decision as the issue is important for the Janata Dal (United ) and BJP coalition in this politically sensitive state at a time when the party is to face the Lok Sabha elections in less than a year.
The dissidents have accused Mr Modi of surrendering the party's interests to the JD (U) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bihar. Although change of leadership is a prerogative of the party, legislators and leadership would also have to think of the impact of their decision on the coalition with its NDA ally.
