YSR's plea to Deora on LPG hike absorption

Hyderabad, Jun 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today urged Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora to make immediate arrangements to permit oil companies to accept his government's offer for reimbursement of Rs 50 per LPG cylinder.

Dr Reddy followed up his telephonic conversation with the Union Minister with a communication expressing the urgent need for avoiding procedural delays in implementing the subsidy scheme of the State Government aimed at benefiting more than one crore families.

The Centre had enhanced the price of domestic LPG by Rs 50 per a cylinder and Andhra Pradesh was the only state in the country to have fully absorbed the hike.

However, the State Level Coordinator for Oil Industry in Andhra Pradesh expressed procedural delays in implementing the scheme immediately.

The state government has reiterated that subsidy scheme on LPG in the State would be effectively implemented with effect from June seven as indicated in GO20.

It was clarified if any consumer had to pay the additional Rs 50 per LPG cylinder, the amount would be adjusted in the future bill, an official release said here today.
