Powerloom unit owner commits suicide

Kolhapur, Jun 7 (UNI) A powerloom owner allegedly committed suicide by stranguling himself with an yarn at the powerloom town of Ichalkaranji here today.

The deceased has been identified as Nitin Vithan Mandavkar (44) from the Ganeshnagar suburbs of Ichalkaranji, police said.

Nitin originally hailed from Karnataka but had shifted to Ichalkaranji where he set up the powerloom unit.

Police said Nitin had paid wages to his workers and had then retired to his room in the factory.

One of the workers later found Nitin dead in the room. Police have recovered a suicide note in which Nitin has written that no one should be held responsible for his death. However, no reason for taking the extreme step was mentioned in the note.

Police suspect that Nitin might have ended his life owing to financial losses. besides, he was also under pressure from his land owner to vacate the premises.
