Kerala to consider ADB loan for tourism development
Kannur, Kerala, Jun 7 (UNI) Kerala Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said the state government would consider taking a Rs 1,000 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for tourism development.
''We will take the loan only if the conditions are favourable to the state,'' he said while inaugurating the Odamthode-Valyancal Road constructed by the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Departmet near Aralam in Kannur.
He said more eco-tourism projects would be taken up with the help of tribals and local population.
Last year, a 25 per cent increase was seen in the flow of tourists and the sector earned around Rs 12,000 crore.
