Granddaughter's scream miraculously wakes up coma victim

London, June 7 : An Indian origin woman, who was in a coma for six weeks, miraculously woke up from her condition by her granddaughter's scream.

56-year-old Devbai Patel was left unconscious after a lorry hit her in a crash, which killed the driver.

In order to make her respond, doctors reduced her sedatives and her family also talked to her, but she showed no reaction.

Thus, the medical staff suggested she might respond to her granddaughter Leela, aged 23 months.

When Leela was brought in, she screamed to see her grandmother looking so unwell, and immediately Devbai opened her eyes.

"It's a miracle. We had tried everything but still she did not respond," the Telegraph quoted her husband Kunverji, 57, as saying.

"We brought in Leela and she was shocked to see her grandma like that, so she screamed and as soon as she did my wife opened her eyes.

"The doctors could not believe how quickly she got better once she had woken up," he added.
