Finance Commission members visit power projects

Shimla, June 7 (UNI) The members of the thirteenth Finance Commission, currently visiting Himachal pradesh, visited the 1500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri project and 111 MW Sawara-Kuddu hydropower project in Shimla and Kinnaur districts today.

The members went around the projects and gathered inputs about the topography and other constraints in carrying out developmental works.

The members would visit the tribal areas tomorrow to see the health and educational institutions, an official here said.

Himachal is the first state to be visited by the Finance Commission and would cover Goa, Punjab and Haryana in the next phase.

The Commission is expected to give its recommendations in one and a half year which would be implemented from 2010-11.
