Agitators hold up train in Kanpur

Kanpur, June 7 (UNI) Samajwadi Youjan sabha workers detained Lucknow bound Jhansi-Lucknow passenger train at Govindpuri railway station here today in Protest against the hike in petrol, diesel and domestic gas prices.

Ranting anti-UPA government and petroleum minister slogans the Youjan sabha halted the passenger train for about 15 minutes, the railway sources here said.

However, they left the premises after few minutes of demonstration, the railway sources added.

Various political and non-political organisations continued their protest against the price hike by burning effigies and raising anti-government slogans for the fouth consecutive day also.
