Software engineer Manjunath laid to rest
Bangalore, Jun 6 (UNI) The body of software engineer Manjunath Kalmani, who died in a hospital in Delhi on Wednesday, was laid to rest at his native village Hoskere in Koppal district today.
The 33-year-old techie, had suffered spinal injuries in a car accident in Nashville in the US in April 2002, paralysing him from neck.
He was shifted to Delhi after the US authorities were disinterested in treating him once his visa expired in March this year.
Manjunath's body was brought back by his father Basavaraj Kalmani from Delhi.
The entire village assembled to pay their respect at the burial ground when Manjunath was laid to rest. Inconsolable family members and friends bid adieu to the brave young man who fought against the injury crippling him for nearly six years.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had directed the officials yesterday to bring back the body to his native place at the state's cost.
