Sea erosion in K'taka coast again
Udupi, Jun 6 (UNI) Ahead of the onset of monsoon, sea erosion has started threatening the lives of fishermen residing along the coast in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
The boulders put up to prevent the erosion few years ago at Muloor sea shore in Kaup in the district were being eroded since Tuesday last after high tides lashed the shores repeatedly.
Several coconut trees were uprooted and two houses on the fringes of the sea near Muloor Road were on the verge of collapse. The family members of these houses have been shifted to safer places.
Sea erosion had also been reported at Paduvari in Byndoor in the district.
At Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district, high tides were hitting the shore since Wednesday and a compound wall of a private resort had collapsed.
