Srinagar, Jun 6 (UNI) Former Chief Secretary B R Kundal today took oath as Cabinet Minister in the Congress-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Governor Lt General (Retd) S K Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Kundal at Raj Bhawan here this afternoon.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his Cabinet colleagues, other politicians, bureaucrats and senior security force officials were also present on the occasion.
Mr Kundal was scheduled to the take oath on June 2 but because of opposition from some coalition leaders, the ceremony was postponed.
Mr Kundal, who was due to retire from service in February, next year, resigned as Chief Secretary and his resignation was accepted by the government recently.
Financial Commissioner (Home) S S Kapur has taken over as new Chief Secretary of the state.
