PMK in Pondy demands cut in fuel tax

Puducherry, Jun 6 (UNI) PMK Parliamentaryparty leader M Ramadass today urged the Puducherry administration to take immediate steps to reduce the tax on petroleum products, enabling the sale of fuels at a lower price in the union territory.

In a statement here, Prof Ramadass lauded Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for his announcement that the state government would absorb the entire hike of Rs 50 in the price of cooking gas and urged the Puducherry government, which was providing all sorts of freebies, to follow suit.

He also urged the administration to enhance the subsidy on LPG cylinder to reduce the price by Rs 25 per cylinder.
