IIFA brand ambassador honours Dr Pachouri

IIFA brand ambassador and Mega star Amitabh Bachchan presenting the award to Dr Pachouri asserted that IIFA was committed to contributing to the cause expoused by Dr Pachouri in reducing the harmful emissions that were not only increasing the average global tempoerature but also resulting in rising oceans.

In his acceptance address Dr Pachouri highlighted the report of the inter governmental committee on climate change that warned the serious repercursions the world would face if actions were not initiated to check the rising emission level that would lead to the worlds largest deltas in china, India and bangladesh vanish. He said that the climatic changes had contributed the current food shortages and if the trend continued by 2050 there will be a 30 per cent reduction in agricultural productivity. It would also have telling impact on health of the people besides coastal flooding due to rising level of seas.

Dr Pachouri said the existing technologies could be put to effective use to reduce the abnoxious green house gas emissions, specifically carbondioxide to arrest global warming.
