Price hike of petrol, diesel and LPG unjustified, CPI(M)

Srinagar, June 5 (UNI) Expressing concern over the hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG, the state secretary of the Communist Party of India (M) M Y Tarigami said the rise was unjustified.

He said the increase will have a ''cascading effect'' on all - round prices as transportation costs will rise sharply.

A hike of Rs 50 on LPG cylinder will also be a crushing burden on family budget of ordinary people, he said in a statement here today.

Mr Tarigami demanded that the UPA government should review the decision on the price hikes. It should cut excise duties more and impose windfall taxes on private companies.
