Police open fire in the air to quell clashing mob
Hubli, June 5 (UNI) Police opened fire in the air to disburse two warring groups at Chakalabbi village in Dharwad district last night.
Official sources said, when lathicharge failed to quell the groups indulged in violence police opened one round of fire in the air and disbursed the clashing members of two group.
Five people belonging to a single family were injured in the group clash and have been admitted to Karnataka institute of medical sciences in the incident.
Police have arrested 16 people in this connection and have been sent to judicial custody.
Old enmity between the two families of the village was stated to be the reason for the clash, the sources added.
