Micro Technologies launches 'Micro Buddy Tracking System'

Mumbai, Jun 5 (UNI) Micro Technologies today launched a location based product that can deliver highly personalised services -- Micro Buddy Tracking System (BTS) Speaking to mediapersons here, Micro Technologies Vice President Vijay Merchant said Micro BTS offers a unique service that enables cell phone subscribers to share their real time location status and messages, with their friends from a mobile phone. Using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, the application automatically updates the location of a user's friends and displays the information directly on a map on the phone. Alerts can also be sent to notify subscribers when a friend is near, he said.

The product offers long messaging system and location base services with charges of Rs 750 per cell for one year subscribes.

The Company Chairman and Managing Director Dr Sekhar said the Company will sell the new product through franchises across the country. The Company presently owns 10 Micro shoppe centres across the country and plans about 300 micro shoppe franchises within the next three-four years, with a huge investment of Rs 400 crore. The Company expects to cross two lakh cell phone subscribers by December-end 2008, he added.
