Gowda to lead rally against Petro prices hike
Bangalore, Jun 5 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal(Secular) President H D Deve Gowda will lead a rally in the city tomorrow to protest the hike in petroleum products.
The protest was against the Centre as well as the Karnataka Government, which had reportedly declined to slash the Sales Tax and other state levies on petro products to reduce the burden on the ordinary people, JD(S) General Secretary Y S V Dutta, said in a release here today.
Starting from the JD(S) office, the rally would culminate at Rajbhavan, and a memorandum would be submitted to Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
Welcoming the move by the West Bengal and Kerala governments to cut the local taxes on Petrol, Diesel and LPG, the JD(S) leader said 'It is pity that the new BJP government in Karnataka has taken an adamant stand not to reduce the tax.'' UNI MSP RS RL KP1623
