Gadkari condemns attack on Kumar Ketkar's residence
Nagpur, June 5 (UNI) BJP Maharashtra unit President Nitin Gadkari has condemned the attack on the Thane residence of Kumar Ketkar, Editor of Marathi daily 'Loksatta.' ''Activists of the Nationalist Congress Party have carried out the reprehensible attack only to vent ire at Mr Ketkar, as he had criticised the ruling party in his editorial. The editorial would have deserved condemnation, if it had anything against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, this is not the case,'' Mr Gadkari said, in a statement issued here.
It was improper for the activists to take the law into their own hands and such behaviour is against the interests of democracy, Mr Gadkari said.
''It is the right of an editor to put forth his views through an editorial column. A reader who does not agree with the editor's view can counter it through the pen,'' he said.
