Debt ridden farmer commits suicide in Maharashtra

Kolhapur, Jun 5: A debt ridden farmer committed suicide by consuming a poisonous liquid at Donavade village in Karvir tehsil of the district.

The deceased, identified as Dattatraya alias Bajrang Dadu Patil (50), was rushed to civil hospital here yestrday evening, after he consumed poison.

He had taken loan of about Rs 2.5 lakh from Ratnakar Bank and two other local credit societites, but he failed to repay the amount, which forced him to take the extreme step, police said.
