WR cancel five trains, divert three trains as Gujjar stir continues
Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) Passengers travelling to places in North India via Rajasthan continued to face problems as the Western Railway (WR) authorities have decided to cancel five trains and divert three others following the ongoing Gujjar agitation for ST status in Rajasthan.
The Gujjar protesters continued to block traffic on rail routes in the region, forcing the WR authority to cancel five trains -- 9037 Avad Express (from Bandra to Gorakhapur), 9023 Firozpur Express ( Mumbai Central-Firozhpur), 2953 Augustkranti Rajdhani Express (Mumbai Central to Nizammuddin), 2907 Sampark Express (Bandra-Nizammuddin) and 9019 Holiday Express (Bandra-Dehrandun), official sources said here today.
While the three trains that were diverted through Nagada-Ujjain- Bhopal route included 2951 Rajdhani Express (leaving from Mumbai Central to New Delhi), 2925 Paschim Express (leaving from Bandra to Amritsar) and 2903 Golden Temple (from Mumbai Central to Jammu Tavi).
The rail blockade and 'dharna' agitation were going on at the railway stations in Rajasthan for over a fortnight.
