Wipro launches 'Eco Eye'

Bangalore, June 4 (UNI) IT major Wipro today launched 'Eco Eye,' a Corporation wide initiative on ecological sustainability.

'Eco Eye' was a comprehensive programme that drives increasing ecological sustainability in all its operations, a company release said here.

The initiative attempts to engage with increasing levels of intensity all the stake holders - Wipro's own employees, partners, suppliers, customers and immediate communities, it said.

Company Chairman Azim Premji said ''we firmly believe business cannot be built at the cost of ecology. It is not sustainable.

Ecological sustainability will increasingly be the defining force for society and business globally.'' Wipro would work on the dimensions of carbon neutrality, water balance, waste management and bio-diversity, he said.

As part of its engagement with the community, Wipro had undertaken mass tree plantation drive in Bangalore, Kochi, Delhi and Chennai.

Its tree plantation in Tsunami affected area at Pushpavanam was a Guinness Record, the release added.
