India's highest Ladakh air base reopened after 43 yrs
Ladakh, June 1, 2008 : The Indian Air Force reopened the country's highest air base, Daulatbeg Oldi Air Force base in Ladakh after a gap of 43 years on Saturday. The airfield is situated at an altitude of 16, 200 feet.
It is just eight kilometers from the India-China border. The Indian Air Force worked in close tandem with the Indian Army to restore the air field.
