Ten injured in clash

Basirhat, Jun 4 (UNI)) Atleast ten people were injured in a clash between CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress supporters at Naskarpara under Sandeshkhali police station in North 24 Parganas today.

Eight of the injured, including an woman, were admitted to the hospital.

According to police, the clash took place during a victory procession of CPI(M) activists for their win in Jeliakhali panchayat in the recent Panchayat elections. Barring Jeliakhali, most panchayats in Sandesh Khali block went in favour of the Trinamool Congress.

Local Trinamool Congress sources alleged that during the victory rally, some CPI(M) supporters damaged the roadside houses of Trinamool supporters which provoked the latter to involve in the clash that left many injured.

No arrest had been made though both sides lodged complaints, police added.
