Phagwara SDM bans stoppage of buses on NH

Phagwara, Jun 4 (UNI) Phagwara SDM Amarjeet Paul has invoked section 144 of CRPC for prohibiting boarding and alighting on the national high ways especially near general bus stand here.

The SDM has also prohibited parking of cars and other vehicles on service roads along the national high ways which was forcing even two wheelers to use high ways instead of service roads.

The SDM said that violaters would be now dealt with a firm hand.

So far, traffic police's efforts had failed to prevail upon bus operators, most of whom preferred to pick the bus passengers from the highway roadside, resulting in traffic chaos and endangering public life, even though the new bus stand was working.

The SDM has also given instructed to remove illegal encroachments from service roads along with national highways in the town.
