Moderate to heavy rainfall forecast in Tripura
Agartala, Jun 4 (UNI) The regional Met department today forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in Tripura and other Northeastern states over the next 48 hours following the onset of the southwest monsoon in the region on June 2.
Met officials said here that the southwest monsoon had covered almost the entire Northeastern region and heavy showers were expected in almost all the states on June 5 and 6.
However, comparatively heavy rainfall might occur over Dhalai and South District of Tripura, the officials added.
The sky would remain overcast with an increase in the wind speed, mostly southwesterly, with an average speed of five to six km per hour and day and night temperatures might drop by one or two degrees Celsius, the forecast indicated.
The monsoons entered the state on June 2, prior to its normal date of onset, resulting in light rain in almost all places of the Northeast, the officials said, adding that about one-two degrees drop in day and night temperatures had been recorded.
