Man sentenced to 10-year RI in smuggling case

Patna, June 4: Additional District and Sessions Judge of Patna B M Srivastav today awarded ten-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) to a person in connection with a smuggling case.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh against the convict.

The judge found Krishna Prasad, a resident of Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border in East Champaran district, guilty under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

According to the charges, the convict was arrested by customs officials from Ramgarhwa railway crossing near Raxaul and 50 kg charas, worth Rs 15 lakh, was siezed from his possession on April 26, 2005.
