India, best market for IT industry: SAP CEO McDermott
Mumbai, Jun 4 (UNI) President and CEO of SAP America and Asia Pacific Japan states, Bill McDermott today said India is a strategic market for the IT industry and related products, as it has a huge potential in this sector.
Speaking to mediapersons at the SAP summit 2008, organised here, Mr McDermott said people are moving away from Oracle as it is a date based company, while SAP is business based.
SAP had committed an investment of one billion USD in the fast growing Indian market from year 2006-10, which has been increased strategically after seeing the growth potential in the country.
''We will over-run our initial plans in the over 100 billion USD market,'' Mr McDermott said.
''The Indian government is turning to IT and the change in automation is being adopted by the government as there are many good practices in the public sector companies,'' he said.
