Existing taxes will be rationalised : Nitish
Patna, Jun 4(UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government was contemplating for rationalisation of the existing taxes in order to give some respite to the people from the pangs of rising prices.
Mr Kumar told newspersons here that the UPA government had totally failed to control the prices and it was affecting the common man's life.
He said in the given situation the state government was exploring ways and means to save the people from the rising prices and apprehending the possible rise of fuel prices. The state government had also adopted several preventive steps for making the taxes viable.
He said the cabinet had already given its green signals for rationalisation of taxes and stated that no new tax would be imposed on the public.
In order to minimise the pressure of the rising prices on the pockets of the common people, suitable directions had been issued to the concerned authorities, he informed.
Mr Kumar further said the Centre should also have adopted some alternative methods and instead of increasing the fuel prices it should have restructured the existing taxes.
