'Ensure adequate supply of fertilizers': Kumaraswamy
Bangalore, Jun 4 (UNI) Former Karantaka chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy today urged the State Government to ensure adequate supply of fertilizers to meet the demands of the farmers.
Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Kumaraswamy came down heavily on police for lathicharging farmers who were demanding supply of adequate fertilizers in Hassan District yesterday.
Criticising Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for 'answering' the demands of farmers through 'lathis,' Mr Kumaraswamy demanded the state government to make necessary arrangements to end scarcity of fertilizers and seeds in the state.
Mr Kumaraswamy also warned that the JD(S) would join the farmers stir if the state government failed to meet the genuine demands of ryots and hurt them with lathis.
In Arasikere Taluk in Hassan District farmers were up in the arm against the ''failure'' of the state government in supplying fertilizers. They were injured in the lathicharge when they tried to storm a warehouse in which bags of fertilisers were stored.
