'Ensure adequate supply of fertilisers': Kumaraswamy
Bangalore, Jun 4 (UNI) Former Karantaka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy today urged the State government to ensure adequate supply of fertilisers to meet the demands of the farmers.
Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Kumaraswamy came down heavily against police lathicharge on farmers who were demanding supply of adequate fertiliser in Hassan district yesterday.
Criticising Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for answering the demands of farmers through lathis, Mr Kumaraswamy demanded the state government to make necessary arrangements to end scarcity of fertilisers and seeds in the state.
Mr Kumaraswamy also warned that JD(S) will join the farmers stir if state government failed to meet the genuine demands of ryots and hurt them with lathis.
It may be recalled that in Arasikere taluk in Hassan district farmers were up in the arm against the failure of the state government in supply of fertiliser were hurt in the lathicharge when they tried to storm a warehouse in which bags of fertilisers were stored.
