CPI calls for strike in AP on June 6
Hyderabad, June 4 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today announced a statewide hartal in Andhra Pradesh on June six to protest the hike in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
In a statement here, CPI State Secretary K Narayana condemned the price hike and called for a general strike to protest the hike and demand its rollback.
Terming the UPA Government's move to hike the fuel prices as ''anti-people'', he said it would put a heavy burden on the common man, and demanded that the Centre adopt the alternative policies suggested by the Left parties.
The Centre today increased the prices of petrol by Rs 5 per litre, diesel Rs 3 per litre and LPG gas Rs 50 per cylinder.
