BJP never promised for reservation to Gujjars: Maheshwari

Indore, Jun 4 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha president Kiran Maheshwari here today said that neither the BJP nor the Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia had promised to provide reservation to the Gujjars.

Talking to the reporters she asserted that it was not even mentioned in the manifesto. It was a misguiding remour and Centre was playing the role of adding fuel to the fire.

''BJP is pledged to maintain the law and order in the state but is not willing to subject the people to excess,'' she said, adding that the Gujjar community was flaunting its adamancy but the ball was fully in Centre's court.

Ms Maheshwari said that though Congress leader Sachin Piolot and Avtar Singh Bhandana were supporting the Gujjars, they never raised the demand to provide them Scheduled Tribe status.

Ms Maheshwari was here to take part in the two-day executive meeting of the Morcha.
