Five injured in Thane explosion

Mumbai, Jun 4: Five people were injured in a blast at Gadkari Rangayatan, an auditorioum, near Talaopali in neighbouring Thane district here today. According to Thane Control Room sources, the explosion occurred around 1610 hours.

The blast occurred in the parking lot of the auditorium, police said. The blast created panic among the people and police cordoned off the area. Police said the explosive material that caused the blast, was in a bag that was kept on a bicycle at the parking lot of the auditorium. Some employees of the auditorium grew suspicious when they found the bag lying abandoned in the parking lot. They proceeded to inspect the bag when the blast occurred, police said. Among the five injured in the blast, four are employees of the auditorium, police said. All the five were rushed to a local hospital and they are stated to be out of danger.
