Workshop to attract PG students to take up research
Bangalore, Jun 3 (UNI) A two-day national workshop on 'Research Methodology and Science Publication' to attract Post Graduate students to take up research in Medicine and Dentistry, will begin here tomorrow.
The workshop is being jointly organised by the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology in association with the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Institute of Science-health Centre.
''In our country research has taken a back seat and an attempt has been made to encourage PG students to continue their studies in research. The national workshop would provide a platform to learn about the ample scope available in research field,'' Workshop Chairperson Mubeen said at a press conference here.
She said about 450 delegates, mostly PG students, have confirmed their participation in the workshop. Speakers of international repute, including Dr Sankaranarayanan, the Head of Screening Group IARC, WHO, France, Dr Mohan Ravuru, Director, Global Medical Affairs, GSK Biological, Belgium would deliver talks on medical research.
She said a panel discussion on problems and privileges in the country for research would also be held with eminent panelists to help augment the research especially in the field of Oral diseases like oral cancer, oral sub mucous fibrosis, dental care and periodontal diseases, which were very high among the Indian population.
Replying to a question, she said delegates from Alternative Medical Specialists like Ayurveda and Homeopathy would also participate to pave way for collaborative research.
Dr Mubeen said Common Wealth Medical Association President Dr Arul Rhaj and several joint research projects among the 53 Common Wealth Constituent countries would also be participating in the two-day deliberations.
