Floods kill 16 and displaces thousands in Sri Lanka

Colombo, June 3, 2008 : Floods triggered by torrential rain in Sri Lanka have killed at least 16 and displaced thousands of people from their homes. Those affected by the flood have taken shelter in schools and temples. According to officials, more than 150,000 people had been affected by the heavy rains.

There are about 25 camps set up for internally displaced people.
