Veteran CPI(M) leader E K Narayanan passes away

Kochi, Jun 3 (UNI) Veteran CPI(M) leader and former Kochi Mayor E K Narayanan (87) died here this evening following a heart attack.

He was rushed to the Medical Trust Hospital here after complaining of uneasiness and breathed his last there. Mr Narayanan, a widower, had no children.

State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and other party leaders visited the hospital to pay homage to the departed leader.

A veteran trade union leader, Narayanan was presently the Kochi District President of CITU and also a member of the party District Secretariat.

The funeral would take place tomorrow, the party sources said.
